3rd Grade - Newland

WELCOME BACK to the 2016-17 School Year!!! 
 
 
We are going to have a SUPER year in 3rd grade!!  I am so very excited to get to know each and every SUPERHERO in my class this year.  You will be gaining many new SUPER POWERS throughout the year as you learn new concepts and build on old ones. 
 
 
This website is a way to stay updated about what's going on in the classroom.  Please check in frequently to be informed of classroom news, upcoming events, and pictures.  If you have any questions you may contact me at kimberly.newland@ greenup.kyschools.us.
 
Third grade students are expected to have multiplication facts mastered by the end of the year.  Please begin to study multiplication facts at home.

                                    Reminders 
BONUS POINTS: Your child can earn bonus points for completing the following math lessons on Study Island and earning a blue ribbon.

AGENDA BOOK:
Please check and sign your child’s agenda book daily.  Students will write homework assignments, upcoming events, and spelling words in their agenda book.
 
HOMEWORK:
Students will have math homework Monday through Thursday. It is very important that students return homework assignments the following day. 
Also, students will turn in their Reading homework every Friday.  Please remember to write your name on your homework!!!
 
 
SWITCHING CLASSES:
Students who are in my homeroom will rotate between 3 third grade teachers. Students will travel to Ms. Gullett's classroom for Reading, Mrs. Cox's classroom for Writing and will have myself for Math. 

READING VOCABULARY TEST
Every Thursday students will be given a vocabulary test over our weekly reading story.  Students will receive a vocabulary study guide attached to our weekly newsletter. Please practice these words and their definitions with your child. 

SPELLING
Spelling tests will be on Friday. Throughout the week we will review the spelling words in class, however most of the students’ spelling practice will need to be at home.
 
Every Friday the newsletter for the upcoming week will be posted here.

Homework

Every Friday, students will have Reading homework that is attached to their newsletter.  They are to return their homework by the following Friday.
 
Math homework is due the following day.
