My name is Michael Doran, and I am the 8th Grade Collaboration teacher at Wurtland Middle School. This year I have also been given the opportunity to work with several 6th Grade classes to help them understand what the expectations will be as they move through middle school, into high school, and beyond.
I am a U.S. Navy veteran, and have been teaching in the Greenup County School District for the past 13 years. I taught at the high school level for the first 10 years of my career before moving to Wurtland Middle in the Fall of 2015. I have a Bachelor's Degree from Marshall University, and a Master's Degree in Special Education (Intervention Specialist) from Shawnee State University. I also have a middle school-aged child, so I am familiar with the joys and the struggles that come with this particular age.
I can be reached by email at any time at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone during the school day at (606) 836-1023.
My schedule is as follows:
1st Period -- 8th grade English collaboration with Mrs. Brumfield
2nd Period -- Planning. This is my opportunity to modify lesson plans, grade assignments, make parent contacts, and catch up on paperwork.
3rd Period -- 6th grade Social Studies collaboration with Mrs. Bayes
4th Period -- 8th grade Reading collaboration with Mrs. Spencer
5th Period -- 6th grade Science collaboration with Mrs. Derifield
6th Period -- 6th graed Math collaboration with Ms. Travis
7th Period -- 8th grade Math collaboration with Mr. duDomaine
I will most likely not post work and assignments on my page because they will already be found on the classrom teachers' webpages.
