GCHS STLP Teams Advance To State
Greenup County High School STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) competed in the regional competition at Morehead State University on November 6, 2017, with three projects: Ecotourism 360, Greenup Grows with Google and Shop Local Tri-state. All three projects were aimed at increasing the local economy through the use of technology. For the first time in GCHS STLP history, all three projects qualified for state level competition at Rupp Arena in March. These students ( Chase Hunt, Cody Tolliver, Ryan Lambert, Aleeya Adkins, Callie Angel, Katie Adkins, Spencer Tackett and Zane Carter) represented Greenup County well. Projects will continue through March in hopes of bringing home a state title!
The team is coached by Daniel Armstrong.
Eco-tourism 360 - Students are capturing photos and videos of our local hiking trails at Greenbo, Grayson, Cave Run, etc. using a 360 camera and drone. The images will be posted on a website and social media to help boost local eco-tourism.
Greenup Grows with Google - Students are helping local businesses optimize Google search to increase foot traffic and revenue. They are official partners with the program, "Get Your Business Online with Google".
Shop Local Tri-State - This is an online directory of small businesses around the tri-state. Customers can visit shoplocaltristate.com and browse the stores that make our tri-state unique. Students are also sharing business posts on all Shop Local Tri-State social media pages.
