GCSD FIRST LEGO League Teams Advance to State Competition
FIRST LEGO is a robotics program designed to get students excited about science and technology. The competition encourages student participation in activities that develop critical thinking, creativity and teamwork skills.

This year’s theme, INTO ORBIT, invites students to explore, challenge, and innovate in the vast expanse of space. Teams also build, test, and program an autonomous robot to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.

Winners are selected on the basis of their scores in the robot performance, robot design, project and core values aspects of the competition. Teams from Argillite Elementary and McKell Elementary will advance to state competition:

The McKell Elementary “Bulldoggies” placed 1st in Robot Game, 2nd in Robot Design and 3rd overall.

The Argillite Elementary “Rockin’ Raptors” placed 2nd in Robot Design, 2nd in Project 4th overall.

In addition, the McKell Middle School Lego My Eggo team placed first in Robot Design.

Twenty two elementary and middle school teams participated in the regional event. Every GCSD elementary and middle school was represented, with 67 students competing for regional titles.
