Students in preschool will be learning about music through songs from a collection called In All Kinds of Weather Kids Make Music.
Kindergarten students are working on music that they will be sharing with their families this year.
Greysbranch and Argillite Kindergarten students are working on a program called Folk Song Fun for Everyone which will be shared with their families at the end of the year.
First Grade students will be learning the placement of the notes on the Treble Clef staff. This will be accomplished by completing a book entitled Mr. Everybody's Musical Apartment.

Second Grade Music
Second Grade students will be learning about Melody and Rhythm this year using the book Hayes Lets Learn Music.
Third Grade Music
Third Grade students will be learning the note names on the Treble Clef Staff from Middle C to fifth line F. Students will be completing 9 note test through the year.

Fourth Grade Music
Fourth Grade students will be learning about the seven music elements.
Fifth Grade Music
Fifth Grade students will be applying what they have learned about the seven music elements by incorporating them in a year long unit on Jazz.

2018 Music K8 Cover Contest
Students are working in Mrs. Blevin's art class on covers for the fifth issue of the Music K8 magazine we use in music class. The first place winner receives a cash prize of $250 dollars. This is a world wide competition and students who are chosen are published in the fifth issue of the magazine. Several years ago we had a student get an honorable mention which was really cool. All entries have to be sent in by January 15th.
