Students have been working hard to complete their posters for tomorrow's Open House event. We can''t wait to see the finished products!
There are always reasons to celebrate students at Greenup County School of Innovation!

HALLOWEEN CANDY COMPETITION
Our annual candy collecting competition is back for another spooky year! The competition will begin on October 5, 2026. The class that collects the most candy will win a pizza party. All donated candy will be distributed during our annual trunk-or-treat event.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grades, along with resource students, will compete through their assigned classes. Students in sixth through eighth grades will compete with their first core classes of the day.
Let the competition begin!

LEGO LEARNING
Who says mathematics has to be learned with just pencil and paper?! It's not Mrs. Angie Shannon. Her students have been working through a hands-on geometry unit, even using Lego boards to enhance their understanding.
We love celebrating our Musketeers!

We are so excited to share that our annual trunk-or-treat event will be held on October 22, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We are excited to treat all of our goblins and ghouls to an evening filled with sweet treats, community, and fun!

INNOVATION LAB LEARNING
Our young scientists have been learning how to measure volume, using both beakers and graduated cylinders. Throughout the remainder of the month, Mr. Bowling and his students will continue to explore a variety of scientific tools, working to understand how to use each to collect data.
We are so incredibly proud of our Musketeers!

SAFE SCHOOLS WEEK 2026
The Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) is announcing Safe Schools Week, September 14-18, 2026. This year’s theme is Strong Roots. Safe Schools.
This dedicated week aims to empower schools to strengthen their safety initiatives through targeted activities and discussions. The goal is to raise awareness about various aspects of school safety and empower students, teachers, parents, and the wider community to take proactive steps in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for everyone.
“The safety of our students and staff remains our absolute top priority,” said Patricia Greer, Resource Center Director for the Kentucky Center for School Safety. “During KY Safe Schools Week, we encourage every school district to engage in meaningful conversations and implement initiatives that bolster their safety protocols. By working together, we can help make our schools places where learning flourishes in a secure atmosphere.”

MUSKETEER OF THE WEEK
This year, we have changed the nomination process for Musketeer of the Week. Students will be nominated based on specific elements of the Foundational Four and Core Four local accountability models. We hope that, in showcasing the accomplishments of our students in this manner, will help to educate parents, community members, and other local stakeholder groups about our current educational models.
Our first Musketeer of the Week of the new school year is Aiden Baldridge. Aiden is being nominated for impressive progress monitoring achievements and successes that are reflected in recent behavior data. These are two important components of the Core Four that are represented in academics and social skills respectively.
Miss Lexie Carroll shares that Aiden has shown tremendous growth in just a few short weeks in advocating for himself, appropriately asking for breaks when needed, and using the social skills he has been learning throughout the school day. He continues to work hard toward his progress monitoring and goals, showing a positive attitude towards learning, new routines, and challenges. He has done an awesome job of demonstrating responsibility for his learning!
At Greenup County School of Innovation, we are focused on celebrating every student!
