Greenup Schools will dismiss at noon today 4/11/24 for impending storms predicted to have 50MPH winds and cause flooding. Storms from last week have also created this need, as many roads were just repaired but could wash out easily. All school events this evening are canceled. Please stay safe Musketeers!

SPRING INTO READING: SPRING BOOKFAIR
It's time to spring into reading at Wurtland Middle School with our spring bookfair! Ms. Johnson will host the bookfair in the library through Wednesday, April 17. Be sure to stop in to guess the number of gumballs in the jar for free books and a prize bag!
Family night will be held on April 16, 2024 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

PASSION PROJECTS: CHICKENPALOOZA
During the week before spring break, our building embarked on a million learning adventures through our Passion Projects! This week, we'll be sharing many of those moments with you!
Ms. Bowling organized and facilitated a Passion Project focused on establishing our first clutch of chicks at Wurtland Middle School. She had help and support from Ms. Dawndy Wagner and Mrs. Rebecca Spencer. Students learned so much throughout the process, from establishing a brooder to designing and creating coop accessories.

Mr. Bowling organized and facilitated a Passion Project focused on the construction of our new chicken coop. Take a look at all of the hard work completed by our students under his supervision. While they worked incredibly hard, there is still a little work to do. Great job, Wildcats!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Barb Tussey shares that Greyson Wireman recently saw her struggling with a box in the hallway. Without any prompting, Greyson offered to help her. Mrs. Barb shares that Greyson was kind and thoughtful, and she is most appreciative!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Mr. Mike Doran shares that the principals at Wurtland Middle School, Brandi Litteral and Melissa Bowling, have a whole-person approach to education and wellness. They go well out of their ways to make certain that everyone in the building is educated and nurtured, not just according to Kentucky Department of Education standards. They work to make certain that personal interests and career options are considered and that creativity, curiosity, and senses of expression are also being fed in wholesome and meaningful ways.
They are why Wurtland Middle School is an awesome place to teach and to learn!


TREE SEEDLING GIVEAWAY

At Wurtland Middle School, we had the best afternoon! We spent time in our courtyard viewing the eclipse, and, though there were a few clouds, these smiles only stand to prove that we were all amazed! We are grateful for the wonder of the universe!

Congratulations to Caitlyn Fields and Briley Parrish! These two Lego League all-stars won the Team Enthusiasm Award at yesterday's state competition held in Lexington! Great job, ladies!


ON THE STATE STAGE
Congratulations to Max Worthington! At today's state Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition, Max captured second place IN THE ENTIRE STATE within the middle school Racing to the Future slot car category!
Congratulations to Bennie Gehringer! Bennie's car set the record for being the fastest in the entire state, reaching 17 miles per hour in only 20 feet!
Wow! Great job, gentlemen! We are so incredibly proud of you!
