On April 19, Wurtland Middle School will partner with Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State for our third annual wall build. This year, we're building two houses!

At Wurtland Middle School, we had the best afternoon! We spent time in our courtyard viewing the eclipse, and, though there were a few clouds, these smiles only stand to prove that we were all amazed! We are grateful for the wonder of the universe!

COMIN' IN CLUTCH
We are so excited to introduce our first clutch of chickens at Wurtland Middle School! We can't wait to watch these ladies grow, transitioning from their brooder into their new chicken coop.

The WiredCats took their LEGO robot, named Betsy Walnut, for a spin on the big table at Wednesday's state competition. We are so proud of these students!

LEGO LEAGUE TEAM ENTHUSIASM AWARD
Congratulations to Caitlyn Fields and Briley Parrish! These two Lego League all-stars won the Team Enthusiasm Award at yesterday's state competition held in Lexington! Great job, ladies!


ON THE STATE STAGE
Congratulations to Max Worthington! At today's state Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition, Max captured second place IN THE ENTIRE STATE within the middle school Racing to the Future slot car category!
Congratulations to Bennie Gehringer! Bennie's car set the record for being the fastest in the entire state, reaching 17 miles per hour in only 20 feet!
Wow! Great job, gentlemen! We are so incredibly proud of you!




RACING TO THE FUTURE
Our slot car crew had a great day on the track at today's state Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition. Even when the bracket had our Wildcats facing one another, the fun continued and smiles won the day! 🏁











STUDENT TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (STLP) DRONE CHALLENGE
Our STLP Drone Challenge team took on the competition at the state-level today! Mason Carr, Alex Brown, and Mark Daniels conquered the aerial drone course with the Eclipse Mission. Help us congratulate these students on a job well done!

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (STLP) STATE COMPETITION
14 WiredCats are on their way to Lexington for the STLP state competition! They'll be racing cars, flying drones, and demonstrating their skills with programmed robots. Help us to wish them the best of luck!

Mrs. Brumfield shares that Alexis chooses to consistently read in her spare time. Last week, once Alexis completed her diagnostic assessment, she used the rest of her time to read and enjoy the book she had brought to class.

SPRING INTO READING: SPRING BOOKFAIR
It's time to spring into reading at Wurtland Middle School with our spring bookfair! Ms. Johnson will host the bookfair in the library throughout the week after spring break, and it will begin on April 8, 2024. Be sure to stop in to guess the number of gumballs in the jar for free books and a prize bag!
Family night will be held on April 11, 2024 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

LUNG CAPACITY LAB ACTIVITIES
Students in Mrs. Dornon's Health Sciences class are working through lung capacity lab activities with the use of balloons! Creative lesson planning and hands-on learning are keys to student success at Wurtland Middle School!
