Today, Mr. Haywood’s STEM Builders spent time converting video game ideas into mechanical board games. Students chose Pac Man, Need for Speed, and a Christmas Grinch-themed game board. Wow! What an awesome activity!
INDUSTRIAL ARTS
Today, Industrial Arts students learned how to make Shaker-style cabinet doors and how to glue butcher block countertops in preparation for building a coffee nook for the main office. Wow. We are excited!

We had another successful academic meet, traveling to play against our friends at McKell. We did well in subject area testing and played two great Quick Recall matches but came up a little short. Both teams had a great night; the future of GC academics is BRIGHT!

Can’t stop. Won’t stop. It’s another amazing project by Mr. Bowling and our industrial arts students. This new cart will serve a multitude of purposes at Wurtland Middle School, ranging from the coffee shop to community events. That’s impressive!
INDUSTRIAL ARTS and HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
There’s a quote that speaks of leaving good in all you do: “Leave footprints of kindness and love wherever you go.” On Monday, a Habitat for Humanity home will be dedicated to one of our own Greenup County families. Look at the special additions that Mr. Bowling and his students crafted as gifts for the new homeowner. Wow! We are so proud of their generosity.
COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Mr. Bowling shares that Mr. Cordle is working very hard to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all the classes that he substitutes in each day. Thank you, Mr. Cordle! Keep up the great work!
READER OF THE WEEK
Mr. Horsley shares that Isaiah carries a book with him often. When he finishes assignments early or has some free time during FLEX, he can often be found reading. Way to go, Isaiah!

Ms. Katie Williams shares that one of our students was struggling with a change in routine recently. Gabe stepped up and sat with this student to make this time easier. He was a good friend, a good helper, and a good example of kindness and patience.
REINDEER GAMES DRAMA PERFORMANCE

COUNTY KIDS 4-H CLUB TOY DRIVE
County Kids 4-H Club is collecting new, unwrapped toys for its annual toy drive. All toys will be donated to the Pickin' Up Daisy Toy Drive for patients at Cabell Huntington Hospital's Pediatric Oncology Unit. The deadline is Friday, December 17.

Mr. Doran shares that Melissa Bowling never ceases to amaze him with her heart for students. Always giving and always looking out for "the least of these," she continually strives to make sure each child in the building feels special, feels wanted, and feels like he or she belongs at Wurtland Middle School. Sometimes, it feels like she goes above and beyond what most of us would already consider "above and beyond". She is an asset to our building, for sure.
