The Greenup County High School Musketeers Smash Esports team is building on last year’s Elite 8 season finish with a trip to the Kentucky Final Four in 2022. Team members, Joseph Wright, Michael Clark, and Brett Worthington, are heading back to Lexington to finish what they started.

Musketeers Smash (#4) will face off against Louisville’s St. Xavier High School (#1) on Friday, December 16, at 2:00 PM. The winner will take on the winner of Trinity High School vs. Dupont Manual High School for the state championship. Dupont Manual ended Greenup County’s run in the semifinals last year. They are the only team that has beaten the Musketeers this season, and our players are ready to even the score.

GCHS Esports coach, Warren Kelly, could not be more proud of his players. “We started the season having to play from home on what was very often bad internet connections, but our team  pushed through and won. Shawnee State's esports team has been awesome to let us use their space every Wednesday to compete, and they've even helped us out by scrimmaging a little to warm us up before matches. We're taking on schools that have more kids in their high school than we have in the whole district, with more resources, and we have succeeded. Greenup County is known as a Smash Ultimate school by Esports coaches all over the state - and I look forward to getting more of our students involved, because this team graduates this spring!”
