READER OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield shares that Daniel is very excited about reading "The Outsiders" in English class. He has shared that he knows it is a book he is going to really enjoy!

As they do every year, our music students performed amazingly well at this year's Old Fashioned Days event. Great work, Wildcats!





2024.2025 Lady Musketeers Basketball Tryouts
Girls Varsity Basketball (10 - 12 Players)
Grades 7 through 12 will be considered for spots on the varsity roster. Coaches will consider players based on their abilities to dribble, pass, shoot, defend, overall attitude, and ability to be coached throughout the four days of tryouts.
Girls Junior Varsity Basketball (8 - 12 Players)
Grades 7 through 10 will be considered for spots on the junior varsity roster. Coaches will name some players to both the junior varsity and varsity rosters. Again, coaches will be looking for the same attributes as those demonstrated by varsity players.
Girls Freshman Basketball (8 - 10 Players)
Grades 7 through 9 will fill this roster. Coaches will be looking at young, willing-to-learn players to develop and add to the program. Again, there will be some overlap with junior varsity and varsity rosters to fill this team.
Tryouts will be held October 15 through October 18 at the following sites and during the noted times:
October 15 - 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. @ The Greenhouse
October 16 - 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. @ the Musketeer Alumni Complex (MAC)
October 17 - 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. @ The Greenhouse
October 18 - 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. @ the Musketeer Alumni Complex (MAC)
All students in grades 7 through 12 are welcome to attend and help build the foundation of our program!

THE WILD(EST) ROBOT
Our seventh-grade language arts students are currently reading "The Wild Robot". Some of the students have jumped in and are working on a collaborative art project to accompany the novel study. We can't wait to see the final creation!

Students in Mr. Haywood's STEM Builders class are learning engineering principles through hands-on activities. Yesterday, they applied their learning to construction projects made with cards and straws.

SPOOKY SEASON ARTS AND CRAFTS
Students in our Cats' Creations class learn how to DO IT ALL - designing, creating, packaging, and even marketing! With some very exciting events on the horizon, they are currently working to craft a bulk supply of products. To say we're impressed, well, is certainly an understatement!

HOT BROWNIES, ANYONE?
Students in Mrs. Shannon's Hospitality and Tourism class made fresh brownies for last week's open house guests. Students even used fresh eggs freshly gathered from our very own chicken coop. All reviews point to DELICIOUS!











SHADOW THE WILDCAT WAY
On Tuesday, November 19, we're opening the doors and inviting YOU to shadow our students at Wurtland Middle School. If you are interested in learning about the Wildcat Way, our academic innovations, and career and technical education classes, this is an excellent opportunity to walk in the shoes of our students for the day.

We will contact individuals based on the availability of slots for shadowing. Those who participate will be asked to provide photo identification upon entering the building and to wear a proper visitor's badge throughout the course of the day. All participants' forms of identification will be scanned for safety and security purposes.


READER OF THE WEEK
Mr. Eric Boos shares that he is excited to recommend Hannah Newsom as Reader of the Week at Wurtland Middle School. Hannah consistently volunteers to read in class, demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm. She stands out with her distinguished vocabulary and clear pronunciation, making her a model reader for her peers. Beyond her reading skills, Hannah has an exceptional ability to understand complex texts and reflect on them thoughtfully, showcasing a deep comprehension that elevates classroom discussions. Her dedication to reading and her thoughtful insights make her a deserving choice for this recognition.

BUS PASS REMINDER
This is just a reminder of our policy regarding bus passes at Wurtland Middle School. Notes, phone calls, e-mails, or requests for students to ride buses other than those to which they are assigned must be received no later than 1:00 p.m. Of course, should it be an emergency, please reach out us, and we will do our best to accommodate requests on an individualized basis.
We appreciate your attention to our request for timely requests for changes to bus transportation for your son and/or daughter.
