State academic testing officially begins tomorrow, and our Wildcat Corral is ready! We’ve worn our Western gear and had a root’n and toot’n academic pep rally! Our building has been decorated in theme, and there are even some WANTED posters in search of the smartest cowpokes in the West.

Tomorrow, our Kentucky State Assessment window kicks off with our testing pep rallies for each grade. Wear your best Western gear and get ready for some fun!
Please make sure outfits adhere to the building's dress code.


A LITTLE SHOW, A LOTTA FUN
Last week, a group of our students went to see "Jack and His Adventures with the King's Daughter" performed at the Paramount Arts Center.
Stops at Central Park and Gatti-Town made for a day filled with fun and smiles!

Mrs. Brumfield shares that Jaxon is always friendly and supportive to everyone at Wurtland Middle School. He always tries to have a good day and to have a positive attitude. Way to set the standard, Jaxon!


HEALTH SCIENCES: ATHLETIC TRAINING UNIT
Students in Mrs. Dornon's health sciences class are working through an athletic training unit. It looks to us like they're taping wrists like champs. Great work, Wildcats!



SEVENTH-GRADE ELA
Last week, students in seventh-grade language arts spent time working in literacy centers. Students spent time reviewing concepts and applying their knowledge of text features. Great work, Wildcats!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT: THE BARBS
It's Administrative Professionals Day, and we have to recognize our Barbs! Barb Nelson and Barb Tussey consistently go above and beyond for everyone at Wurtland Middle School! They take the best care of our students, teachers, and administrators. No matter the call, they answer with a smile and a willingness to help!
We love our Barbs, as they are two individuals who truly make Wurtland Middle School a better place for everyone! Thank you both for all you do!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Ms. Melissa Bowling shares that she is so proud of Liam. One morning last week, Liam arrived at school at the same time as Ms. Bowling. She was carrying a large bag of chick feed and another large package containing pine shavings for the brooder. She also had several other bags in her hands. Liam took all of the items for the chicks from Ms. Bowling and carried them for her. He even delivered them upstairs. Thank you for lending a hand, Liam! You made your assistant principal very proud of you!


SITE-BASED COUNCIL NOMINATIONS (SBDM)

SPRING CONCERT
Please mark your calendars for our spring concert! It will be held on 5.13.24 at 1:00 p.m. Members of our choir, band, and orchestra will be performing. Parents, guardians, and family members are invited to attend.


FOSTER YOUTH ADVOCACY
We are proud to share that one of our former Wildcats was a keynote speaker during last week's Child Abuse Prevention Conference that was held in Morehead. Maddalyn Wilburn spoke of her life experiences to a large crowd of professionals during her session entitled "Blossoming into Adulthood".
We are so proud of this young lady and her accomplishments! Our Wildcats are making differences in the world every day!
