In Mrs Caudill's CTE Computer Design and Creations class, students created their own mazes. They had to lay their puzzle out on their own through coding software, print it on our 3d printers and put everything together. Hands on skills and tech skills all in one class!
Mrs. Fraley’s CTE class is wrapping up their Monarch butterfly project. They’ve released over 50 monarchs and tagged 36 of those. Please follow their journey south with our students at www.monarchwatch.org
Fingers crossed one of our tagged butterflies is reported on its journey to Mexico.

Each week, we challenge our Bulldogs to reach our 94% attendance goal, and last week we ended with 95.4% attendance!

In celebration of Ag Week, Mr. Pack’s English students spent the week learning about agriculture in Kentucky, particularly in Greenup County. After spending two days researching and going on virtual field trips to various farms and agritourism spots around the state, students worked in groups to create flyers promoting agriculture and agritourism—with shoutouts to local businesses.
For All in for Ag Week, Our Photography, EdRising, and Agriculture CTE classes teamed up to introduce our preschoolers to some newly hatched baby chicks! It was a fun, hands-on experience for our youngest learners and a great opportunity for our students to collaborate.
To celebrate Agriculture Education Week Mrs. Fraley’s CTE class harvested the mammoth sunflowers they grew in their butterfly habitat. They shelled the sunflowers and seasoned the seeds with pickle and garlic herb seasoning. Then baked them and students enjoyed their project. It was a tasty way to participate in Ag Week!
Our recipe:
Two cups sunflower seeds
Two tablespoons olive oil
1/2 tsp. sea salt or seasoning of your choice.
Steps:
Toss the kernels with the oil and seasoning. Spread them evenly on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Cool before eating.

Amber has shown outstanding dedication to her schoolwork so far this year. She consistently demonstrates good behavior, treats others with kindness, and is willing to share her thoughts and responses during class. Her positive attitude and commitment to doing her best make her a great example of Bulldog Pride!
7th Grade- Kayleb Jordan
Kayleb is always willing to lend a helping hand to other students and brings a positive attitude into the classroom each day. His kindness and willingness to support those around him make a difference in our school. Kayleb is a great example of what it means to be a Bulldog!
6th Grade- Chloe Gibson
Chloe consistently goes above and beyond in her schoolwork and demonstrates leadership in everything she does. She is friendly to everyone, quick to help her classmates, and is a great friend to others. Her teachers appreciate the effort, kindness, and positive example she brings to the classroom each day. Chloe truly represents Bulldog Pride!

Along with the district, McKell Middle is participating in Dolly Day! To honor Dollly Parton and to show our appreciation for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which provides books to kids. On 9/25 @ 9:25 we will take 5 minutes to have all teachers and students to stop and read.
We have some new faces or maybe we should say new Beaks! Help us welcome our new baby birds that Mrs. Cattell's Agricultural class has been monitoring and watching!

6th grader Zoey Nance was nominated by here teachers is always willing to lend a helping hand and works well with everyone. She goes out of her way to uplift those around her and brings a positive attitude to everything she does. Her strong work ethic, kindness, and character make her a wonderful example foothers. The 6th-grade team appreciates the positivity she brings each day.
7th grader Jaden Lambert was nominated for consistently demonstrates kindness and respect toward his teachers, staff, and classmates. His positive personality and great sense of humor help make McKell Middle School a better place. Jaden represents the Bulldog Way by treating others well and bringing positivity to those around him.
8th Grade Lilian Bearfield has shown tremendous growth and continues to shine both academically and through her involvement in school. She is a talented actor who is always willing to step up and do whatever is needed. Her work in English has been exemplary, and her hard work, dedication, and positive attitude make her a great example of Bulldog Pride.

Mrs. Fraley’s Human Anatomy CTE class has been working on identifying parts of the skeleton. They enjoyed making pasta skeletons and many can orally name 26 skeletal parts.
